English Translation:
Yoga is restraining the mind-stuff (Chitta) from taking various forms (Vrttis).

Hindi Translation:
चित्त अर्थात् अन्त:करण की वृत्तियों का निरोध सर्वथा रुक जाना योग है।

योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय ।
सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते ॥॥

Transliteration:
yogasthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṃ tyaktvā dhanaj́jaya।
siddhyasiddhyoḥ samo bhūtvā samatvaṃ yoga ucyate॥॥

English Translation:
Be steadfast in the performance of your duty, O Arjun, abandoning attachment to success and failure.
Such equanimity is called Yog.

Hindi Translation:
हे धनञ्जय तू आसक्तिका त्याग करके सिद्धिअसिद्धिमें सम होकर योगमें स्थित
हुआ कर्मोंको कर क्योंकि समत्व ही योग कहा जाता है।

Hindi Translation:
मन के प्रशमन के उपाय को योग कहते हैं।

योपाकरोत्तं प्रवरं मुनीनां पतञ्जलिं प्राञ्जलिरानतोस्मि॥॥

Transliteration:
yogena cittasya padena vācāṃ malaṃ śarīrasya ca vaidikena ।
yopākarotttaṃ pravaraṃ munīnāṃ pataj́jaliṃ prāj́jalirānatosmi॥॥

English Translation:
Who gave yoga for serenity and sanctity of mind,
grammar for clarity and purity of speech,
and medicine for perfection of health,
Let us bow before the noblest of sages, Patanjali.

Hindi Translation:
जिन्होंने मन की शांति और पवित्रता के लिए योग दिया,
भाषण की स्पष्टता और शुद्धता के लिए व्याकरण दिया,
और स्वास्थ्य की पूर्णता के लिए औषधि,
आइए हम महान ृषि पतंजलि को नमन करें।

8 limbs of Yoga

यम, नियम, आसन, प्राणायाम, प्रत्याहार, धारणा, ध्यान, समाधय: अष्टौ अङ्गानि।

Transliteration:
yama, niyama, āsana, prāṇāyāma, pratyāhāra, dhāraṇā, dhyāna, samādhaya: aṣṭau aṅgāni।

English Translation:
Principles, Personal Disciplines, Postures, Control over life forces, Withdrawal of Senses, Focused Concentration, Meditative Absorption, and Enlightenment are the 8 limbs of Yoga.

Hindi Translation:
सिद्धांत, व्यक्तिगत अनुशासन, मुद्राएं, जीवन शक्तियों पर नियंत्रण, संवेदना, ध्यान केंद्रित एकाग्रता, ध्यान, और प्रबोधन योग के आठ अंग हैं।
